Rocky and Blue’s Build

Last weekend was special for Rocky and Blue, two very deserving dogs. Thanks to ChainFree Chattanooga's dedication and hard work, these dogs now have the freedom to roam safely in their own yard.

Rocky and Blue are two playful, affectionate dogs who have spent much of their lives tethered outside. On Saturday, their lives were changed for the better. A team of nine volunteers and board members from ChainFree Chattanooga arrived early, ready to give these dogs the freedom they deserve. Over the course of just three hours, the crew worked to construct a sturdy, secure fence that would allow Rocky and Blue to explore their yard without the constraints of a chain.

Throughout the build, Rocky and Blue excitedly greeted the volunteers, their tails wagging with gratitude. It was clear that they understood something wonderful was happening. When the last panel was in place, the dogs happily explored their new space.

Special Thanks to Our Supporters

We extend a special thanks to Pet Placement Center for donating the fence panels that made this build possible. Their contribution played a crucial role in helping us complete the project quickly and efficiently.

The Importance of Ending Continuous Tethering

Our work at Chain Free Chattanooga is about more than just building fences. It's about giving dogs like Rocky and Blue the opportunity to live happier, healthier lives. Continuous tethering can have devastating effects on a dog's physical and psychological well-being. Dogs who are chained for long periods often become anxious, depressed, and even aggressive. They are deprived of the social interaction and exercise they need to thrive.

By providing safe, fenced-in spaces, we are helping to alleviate the suffering of these animals and reduce the strain on our already overburdened shelters. Dogs that are given the space to run and play are less likely to develop behavioral issues that could lead to their abandonment or surrender to a shelter.

Seeking Our Next Build Candidate

As we celebrate the success of Rocky and Blue's fence build, we're already looking forward to our next project. If you or someone you know is in need of a fence build, we want to hear from you! To be eligible, candidates must:

  1. Reside in Hamilton County, Tennessee.

  2. Have a dog that is continuously chained/tethered or kept in a small enclosure.

  3. Lack the resources to provide alternate living arrangements for their dog.

If you meet these criteria or know someone who does, please contact us. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of dogs who need it most.
