Aria, Goonie + Blondie’s Build

This week’s ChainFree Chattanooga fence build was for a trio of dogs in need: Aria, Goonie, and Blondie. These three had been living in a dilapidated small enclosure that had become unsanitary and unsafe to keep them contained. Blondie perched atop a small doghouse and greeted us with some howls. A large heavy chain around her neck ensured that she couldn’t escape her current conditions.

The homeowner and caregiver for these dogs wanted their fence positioned adjacent to the house so that the dogs would have access to the home’s basement. Having a large fenced-in yard AND indoor basement access is a huge improvement in living conditions for this pack!

One challenging aspect of this build is the fact that the yard is very sloped, which made for some troubleshooting for our crew of volunteers. Their ingenuity prevailed, and at the end of the morning, we had three happy dogs playing in their new fence together.

Special Thanks to SCRATCH

Our friends at SCRATCH have worked to help spay and neuter cats and dogs at this property and connected us with this homeowner in need.

If you are unfamiliar with SCRATCH, their mission is “Saving homeless Cats by Reducing their numbers via Adoption, Alteration, and T NR, Connecting with cat advocates, and Helping cat caretakers.” Getting animals on-site spayed and neutered is a critical part of ChainFree Chattanooga’s mission, and we appreciate and applaud all of the work that SCRATCH does in our community.

ChainFree Chattanooga needs the help of animal control officers and other local rescue groups—including TNR organizations like SCRATCH—to identify candidates for fence builds.

We are all working together towards animal welfare in our community!

Mama cat, Sophie is a SCRATCH alumni. She was happy to greet our fence builders!

Join Us in Our Mission

None of this would be possible without the support of our incredible volunteers. If you're looking for a way to give back to the community and make a tangible difference in the lives of dogs, we invite you to join us for our next build. No special skills are required—just a few hours of your time on a weekend can help create a safer, happier environment for a dog in need. To volunteer for our next build, please submit a volunteer application, and we’ll contact you.

Help Us Continue Our Work

Your financial support allows us to purchase materials, cover operational costs, and reach even more needy dogs. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to freeing dogs from a life of continuous tethering.

The average fence build costs about $1200 in materials. We are currently an entirely volunteer-based organization, and your tax-deductible donation goes directly toward building more fences and helping us further our mission. Donate today to help us build more fences!

Together, we can continue to make Chattanooga a better place for dogs like Aria, Goonie, and Blondie. Your support means the world to us!
